Rabbi Hillel Katzir

Hillel_Katzir_3.jpg Rabbi Hillel Katzir joined Temple Or Hadash as its spiritual leader in July, 2015.  Before becoming a rabbi, Rabbi Katzir lived in Israel for nine years, and practiced law for 15 years. He served during many of those years as a High Holy Day cantor for various congregations from California to Iowa.

Rabbi Katzir’s passions include teaching Judaism to both Jews and people of other faiths; and working in interfaith forums to help break down the sense of ‘Otherness’ that so often prevents people from working together for a better world for all.  He has published a book on Jewish history, The Evolving Covenant:  Jewish History and Why it Matters, expressing those passions.

Rabbi Katzir previously served as the spiritual leader of Temple Shalom in Auburn, Maine, for 11 years.
