ONEG HOST INFORMATION2017
The week prior to the service Oneg Coordinator, Carole T, will advise what items are needed to bring, i.e.
wine, grape juice etc. and any special notices pertinent to the service.
DEDICATION or HONORS by ONEG HOSTS–New! As an Oneg host you have the opportunity to
dedicate your oneg in memory of or in honor of someone dear to you. Please notify Brooke Freeman
by midweek 1 ½ weeks prior to your Oneg of your dedication/honor so that she can include it with her
weekly TOH Schedule of Events. You can email Brooke at docbfreeman@live.com.
CABINETS at Senior Center – We currently have 2 cabinets at FCSC. Prior to the service, from the
lockers we bring out needed supplies. (Some board members and Carole T have keys.)
Candle holders, candles, drip tray, matches, Kiddush cup –
Kippahs
Tray(s) for challah and challah cover(s)
Small plastic wine/juice cups for Kiddush
Wine if in locker.
Oneg supplies
Paper plates, plastic utensils, napkins, serving trays, etc.
Glass carafe for water for rabbi and Natalie. Place these by Ark.
Clear glass flower vases. Sorry, we will no longer guarantee to have vases available.
BRING from HOME
●Oneg food offerings are your choice. Oftimesserved are cookies or cake, fruit, cheese &
crackers. BUT, keep it simple; not all the foregoing are needed. Minimal requirements are
challah, grape juice and wine.
●If you desire, bring flowers (in vase) for the Bimah/serving table. Optional.
●If needed, purchase kosher wine. TOH has a tax-free certificate. Check TOH website for
certificate.
●Challah – Challah can be home baked, ordered from i.e. Whole Foods, KingSooper,Great
Harvest (must be ordered early in week preceding the service).
●Grape juice. Can be either white or red grape juice.
●Serving tools you may need though we have some in our supply boxes.
FCSC Supplies the following
Ceramic cups or paper hot cups
Water glasses or paper cups
Coffee, decaf & regular
Condiments for coffee
SET UP PRIOR to SERVICE
Serving table. FCSC places white tablecloths on serving tables. We do not need linen cloths or any
cloths on the “social tables”, unless hosts desire. In our cabinets we may have some single use round
white and rectangular plastic table covers for the “social tables” if you wish.
Set out the wine/juice cups on trays and fill them to save time later. There are small tent signs for
denoting “wine” and “grape juice”.
Kiddush cup –Always pour a small amount of grape juice (never wine) in Kiddush cup for Rabbi
Katzir or Natalie. Place Kiddush cup and challah at end of serving table for rabbi.

SET UP PRIOR to SERVICE (continued)
Do any prep for your food items.
In auditorium or room of service,
Set up candles (with glass shields)in candle holder upon drip tray. Matches.
Carafe of water + glasses/cups for Natalie and Rabbi Katzir.
AFTER the SERVICE
Reverse the procedures
Carefully pack the candle holders back in their box. Return TOH items to cabinets.
Clear serving tables. FCSC staff takes care of coffee, cups, & items they supply.
Return plastic drip tray to locker for next service use.
OTHER INFORMATION
●Ark, Torah, prayer books, eternal light, name tag board are set up and put away by
“able-bodied” congregation members. Oneg hosts are not responsible.
●The Oneg Coordinator maintains stock of oneg supplies in our cabinets.
●Most of the oneg supplies are contained in 3 large rectangular plastic boxes kept in our
cabinets.
●Questions – Contact Carole Tuttle, Oneg Coordinator at 970-282-7674 or kleetutt@aol.com.
●Plan on not needing use of FCSC kitchen. Most usually nowadays our services are held in the
auditorium with the oneg in a room across the hall. The “oneg room” has a small sink and
counter to set up wine/juice cups.
●Treats for Senior Center staff– The FCSC staff who are setting up for us etc. have been very
helpful to us, so we try to show them our gratitude by taking a plate or plates of treats to their
office
